How to update filters?

After updating to 5.0 I only get the note, that my filters are “Obsolete. Modified. Incomplete.”
Now I must upgrade my filters. How do I do that? I even uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin.

Conceptually it’s very simple:

  1. Copy the .conf files from wp-fail2ban/filters.d to the filter.d directory in your fail2ban install
  2. Reload the fail2ban jails.

However, the details of each step depend on a number of things. For example,

  • which OS you’re using
  • where your WordPress install lives
  • where fail2ban is installed

There are also other things you should check after upgrading.
